EDI for CAI
CAI accepts GATEIN, GATOUT, WESTIM and WESTIMDT message in the two EDI formats widely used in the container leasing industry,
EDIFACT and ANSI. The specifications of these formats are covered in the IICL
document
IICL TB 002 - Electronic Data Interchange Standards (EDIS).
CAI's EDI requirements are a small subset of the IICL fields. See our document
CAI EDI Reporting.
Examples of Valid EDI messages
These examples are not a specification for creating EDI messages;
they are intended to help you recognize the two valid formats.

Special considerations if sending ANSI EDI
If you are going to send us EDI in ANSI format, our system needs to know what
kind of message you are sending. If you send a single message in the text of
the email, make sure the message type (e.g. GATOUT) appears before the ANSI
message begins; a good place is in the email Subject: line. If you put more
than one message type in the text of an email, you must have a line that calls
out each message type before it begins. See the example above. The message
type may be mixed with other text if you wish. For example this line would
identify the message as a GATOUT message:
KRYNXDAEAGATOUT2020228 998767212
If you send the ANSI messages as attachments, the same rules apply with the
added option of including the message type in the name of the attachment.
Note that repair completions must be identified as GATEIN messages.
